Just moved to Merrillville a month ago and I was determined to find a good Thai restaurant :D I have been here 4 times already. The customer service and food portions are great. The low prices are another win. I’ve only tried the Pad Ka Pow and I love the flavor. It was exactly how I like it. I raved about this place to my mom who was in town and she tried the Bangkok chicken and the Fire Dish but my mom didn’t care for either (neither did I when I did a taste test lol). They weren’t spicy at all to us. We’re used to the abundance of flavor and spiciness with the Pad Ka Pow dish so those dishes were underwhelming. We’ll just stick to what we know. I definitely still recommend this place!

I was VERY VERY disappointed! The beef vegetable stir-fry barely had beef, the drunken noodle was lacking noodles and basil fried rice portion was small. Pictures show it all. The food does not live up to the restaurant's name.

BEST Thai food in the NW Indiana area! Extensive menu, efficient service and genuinely nice staff. Always a great experience! Dine in or takeout available. The owners care deeply about quality and have developed a loyal clientele. You won't be disappointed!

My mother and I went to this place for the first time and the food and service were terrible! I ordered drunken noodles, and they weren't even cooked, and the meat was raw. They looked like chitterlings. I asked the server to take them back and take them off the bill, and she was extremely rude and nasty. Our server was Lisa, and she was rude upon us entering this establishment. My mother and I are Black women, and we noticed she was significantly nicer and attentive to other customers who happened to be White. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place! Please take your money and time elsewhere that has good service and quality food. Lisa should not be serving.

Not much of ppl here but I love the food for sure!!! From appetizer to soup and salad then my main entree was all amazing ! Too bad my stomach is not that big otherwise I will order more to show my love of this place and support! I ordered a table of food with a drink and is less than $50. Need I say more ? This place is amazing.

Service was okay. Food was lackluster. I ordered the Crazy Ramen with Shrimp. Flavors just didn’t go well together. The vegetarian egg too was hot, but not tasty. The hot mustard looked gelatinous instead of creamy. This is my second visit and still not satisfied.

The fried calamari, drunken noodles and mango sticky rice that I had were all amazing! Five Star is the best Thai food I’ve had in NW Indiana, and I can tell they put a lot of effort into each dish. I highly recommend and can’t wait to come back to try more!

I SPECIFICALLY asked the bean sprouts in the dish to be fully cooked because of health concerns. They confirmed it would be fully cooked. But it did not come fully cooked. If they weren't gonna cook it all the way, I would have asked to leave it out of the dish. Unnecessary risk to my health!
